About
The Least Dangerous Game
Richard Connell wrote a short story called The Most Dangerous Game in 1924. It involved an island and “human hunting.” Humans being the titular most dangerous game. But that was on an island. And in 1924.
Flash forward to whatever year we’re in now. Google yourself. Go ahead, do it. It isn’t masturbatory if I give you permission. Did you find yourself? Of course you did.
We work in cubicles 8 hours a day. Our information is on the internet. We have become the least dangerous game.
Instead of running scared, it’s time we embrace it! As easy as we are to access, the internet also distances us with watered down interactions.
How It Works
Every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month, from noon to 3pm, I will be “hiding” somewhere in the Twin Cities area. Using Twitter, I will slowly update you with clues to where I am.
The first person to find me receives a prize. They will also be profiled in Monday’s video podcast. Hopefully.
You can only win once a calender month. Feel free to find me though. We can have a cup of coffee.
What Is Twitter?
Oh yeah, Twitter. You can read all about it in their FAQ. But basically, it’s a mini-blog for what you’re doing. You can update it from your computer or phone, and even receive updates on your phone. Which makes it ideal to use for this “social hunt.” You can get updates while you’re searching!
Can You Help?
Do you have an establishment in the Twin Cities where you would like me to hang out? Email leastdangerousgame@gmail.com and let me know. I’ll be happy to add you to my list of hiding places.
Do you want to sponsor a week and provide the prize? Email leastdangerousgame@gmail.com and let me know. I’ll be happy to announce and give out your prizes.
Why, You Crazy Bastard?
To meet the faceless masses of the internet. As social as sites like MySpace and Twitter are, they seem to be a substitute for real face to face interaction. I don’t want to be socially inept, do you? It’s time to meet some interesting people face to face!
