Matt’s Bar - The Wrap-Up

2 July 2007

June 30th was a great day to be playing Least Dangerous Game. Not only was there a $15 Cheapo gift certificate to be one, but the hiding place was more than perfect for social interaction.

As you can certainly tell be the title of this entry, the hiding spot was Matt’s Bar in south Minneapolis on Cedar Ave.

It was another week of hangman, as players texted in guesses that turned this:

“xxxx xx xxx xxxx xxxx”

Into this:

“HOME OF THE JUCY LUCY”

With a simple internet search, or any knowledge of the Twin Cities, players would be turned instantly to Matt’s Bar. So who won?

Why, Ed Kohler! Ed arrived by bike and recorded this video of himself en route. Of course, that could very easily be his “escaping from an exploding volcano” video.

Ed happily collected his Cheapo gift certificate in full biker gear.

After a short conversation about the iPhone and giving someone directions to the Mall of America, Ed was off to meet his wife for a bike ride.

And with that, I was off. I figured that if the winner arrived by bike, surely there was no one else showing up. But I was wrong.

I was about eight blocks away when Twitter informed me that Chuck Olsen had arrived at Matt’s.

Chuck had arrived by horse drawn carriage. Or a slow car. Whatever can be beaten by a bike. I turned around and headed back to Matt’s Bar.

On my way, Twitter also informed me that multi-winner Alan Wyman had just ordered a Jucy Lucy.

Conversations about technology, cameras, iPhones, Alaska, Seattle, libraries, and more continued while beer and beef were consumed.

It was a very good time, and exactly what Least Dangerous Game is about!

The next game will be held on July 14th, when we will return to riddles and clues instead of hangman. Have a wonderful and safe 4th of July. And, as always, tell your friends to come and play Least Dangerous Game!

[EDIT] Oh yeah, I also overheard this. It was a good day.

  1. Ed Kohler Says:

Sorry I had to win & dash. That was particularly tough to do with the scent of freshly cooked Jucy Lucy’s all around me.
