Mel-O-Glaze - The Wrap-Up

29 July 2007

Mel-O-GlazeFailure! Or, rather, no one was looking. I hid for three sweet hours at the Mel-O-Glaze Bakery in south east Minneapolis and no one was even searching. Luckily I had some pastries and friends to keep me company.

Let’s go through the clues anyway, shall we?

Nearby you drive on this, but park somewhere ironic.

Mel-O-Glaze is located on Minnehaha Parkway. You drive on the parkway and park on your driveway. Hilarious, I know. You know, I made that up a long time ago and now I hear people saying all the time.

Family owned for over 43 years.

What could that possibly mean?

Somewhere between June 30th and July 14th

Oddly enough, Mel-O-Glaze can be found between my hiding spots on June 30th, Matt’s Bar, and July 14th, the Minnehaha Depot.

Best of 2005 & 2007

City Pages named Mel-O-Glaze as holder of the best donuts in the Twin Cities in 2005 and 2007. And you know something? They might be on to something there.

This is not the first Friday in June, but I’ll still celebrate.

The first Friday in June is national donut day. You didn’t know there was such a thing? Now you have no excuse.

Productivity is up 2% and it’s all because of my motivational techniques, like xxxxxx and the possibility of more xxxxxx

The Simpsons Movie just came on, so I thought I’d geek it up and throw in a Homer clue. Twitter wasn’t long enough for the whole quote from You Only Move Twice, but the blanks can be filled with “donuts.”

ABLE-ELK ORGY-MAZE

No one was showing up. Time to throw in an absurd anagram.

Laughing all the way here.

Minne”haha” Parkway. I was giving it away.

Best donuts in town

At this point, Graham Lampa of Washington, D.C. sent me a direct message guessing the correct location. But, you see, he lives in Washington, DC. A $15 Borders gift card is not worth the airfare.

Feeling rather defeated, I named my exact location and waited another half hour. No one showed up.

What does this mean? It was just a really nice day out and everyone already had plans. And there is a $15 Borders gift card waiting for the lucky Least Dangerous Game winner of August 11th!

If you haven’t told your friends to join up, I don’t understand what you’re doing. Do you dislike your friends? Tell your friends!
