One Week Out

Least Dangerous Game begins this Saturday at noon. The first task and location clues will be tweeted from the Least Dangerous Game Twitter account, so follow it today. And make sure you have signed up using the simple simple simple form.

Did you want to hear about prizes? Okay! First place gets a $10 iTunes gift card, two tickets to Overheard in Minneapolis, and Adam Svec’s new CD. Second and third get iTunes gift cards and said CD. And fourth and fifth place get iTunes gift cards. So, really, you’ll need to try really hard to lose if you don’t want a prize.

More information? You’ve got it. Once you have arrived at the first location of the race, the rest is very doable on foot. Don’t worry about driving from Minneapolis to Bloomington. We’re highlighting one area this time.

Clues, locations, players, and the after party will all be recorded and put up on the web after the game is done. To make everyone who didn’t play jealous! They won’t believe the fun that was had.

And now, a request. So that we don’t have TOO many jealous people, tell your friends about Least Dangerous Game. This first game is really a test case for the rest of the run. The greater success we have here, the better example I have to show other business who may want to get involved. So help talk it up. Tweet about it. Get it out there. The more, the merrier.

See you Saturday!

A Little Under Two Weeks to Go

It is just a little under two weeks until Least Dangerous Game is back and running. Pun intended. Sorry.

I have several sponsors lined up already. Check the right hand columns of the website for a few of their names, and make sure to visit their website and/or business. There are also location sponsors coming in, who can’t be named until after the race is done. Don’t want to give you a head start, after all.

Of course, I am also still looking for sponsors. So if you are one or know one that would be interested, shoot me an email. I’ll be happy to follow up. The more people playing, the more sponsors we can get. And the more sponsors we get, the more people will play.

If you haven’t signed up to play yet, get going! All you need is your name. Click on the sign up link in, that’s right, the right hand column.

And, finally, the rules page has been updated. Take a look at how the game has changed, so you are prepared on the 24th.

That’s it for now. See you soon!

Evolved!

The Least Dangerous Game is coming back, and it has evolved! Rules and information are still being finalized, but we are currently allowing players to sign up for the April 24th game, and looking for sponsors to provide prizes and locations within the game itself.

Any questions and inquiries can be sent to me at leastdangerousgame@gmail.com.

Also, a few new pages with new information have been added to the site. Check out the links on the navigation bar above for more information.

Hope to see you playing soon!

Evolve or Die

Participation in Least Dangerous Game has never been what I’d call stellar. With mentions in multiple publications and on TV, things simply haven’t gone anywhere.

At a guess, 10 to 15 people will actually be reading the clues on a game day with 0 to 4 people intending on acting on the clues.

The game is good natured and joyful, and I have been happy to put it on for as long as I have. The people who have participated are great and seem to enjoy themselves, but things are stagnating.

It seems like the game has to change. Something about it isn’t attracting an audience. Maybe it is the technology. Maybe it is the time range. Maybe it is the incentive.

The overall point here is, it is time for some retooling. As witty and smart at news agencies seem to believe Least Dangerous Game is, it doesn’t translate to the general public. And if people don’t feel like getting involved, then opinions don’t mean much.

And this is in no way a dig at anyone who has participated. The online community, and Minnesota interactive community in general has been awesome. Everyone who plays has been really excited, and people love spreading the word. The fans of the game are great and very supportive.

But it’s time to step back to the drawing board and find a new direction for inspiration. Let’s hope something neat pops into place. I’ll see you in a little bit!

Outfit and Prize – June 14th, 2008

It’s the second Least Dangerous Game of 2008! And instead of doing yard work, you have decided to help me with my reverse-stalking! Did I say reverse-stalking? I meant next generation social media game! Hey, what am I wearing today?

Adultery

That’s right, a hot dog shirt. I don’t know why I said “that’s right.” Surely, that isn’t what you would have guessed. But the fact remains, hot dog shirt.

The prize again, provided by the Mustache Rangers podcast and improv group, is a genuine Doc Johnson’s Olde Tyme Elixir t-shirt. Now you can be fashionable and promote a fake snake oil elixir from the 1920s! Your dream has come true! Not that dream. The other dream!

Depending on recording situations, the winner will also be featured in the Least Dangerous Game podcast! You’ll be an internet star! Just like that guy who put up a video on YouTube!

While you wait for the first clue, check out the Mustache Rangers and do some toe touches to stretch your legs. Least Dangerous Game beings at noon!
